I wonder if Hooton is this driving instructor's real name? If so, it's a great example of an aptonym or 'nominitive determinism' - the theory that a person's name can influence their choice of job, main interests or even character. So for example, Mr Salt might become a sailor, or Miss Wall might turn her hand to bricklaying. Mr Hooton probably thrives in traffic jams!
