tree house
A perfect day of blue skies and mid 20s temperatures so Astro and I ventured out for a bit of a hike.
We walked to the top of the ridge overlooking the Piesse Brook. Still not running with water yet after the rains but the wet has greened up the bush and wildflowers are beginning to appear.
On our walk I spotted this quite spectacular house clinging to the opposite valley side. Built from wood with an interesting metal roof and a big deck overlooking the brook it surely has to be the ultimate 'tree house' though heaven knows how the building ever happened. With all those trees around the fire risks must be pretty huge though!
Also looking at the view, and us no doubt, was a HUGE red kangaroo lolling under a shady tree. Deciding 'close enough was close enough' he hopped up, and at full height these are seriously big boys with the pecs and muscles of athletes.
Astro by now all aquiver and as Big Red loped off covering metres with a hop, A was also off, ' flat out like a lizard drinking.'
Unlike other family dogs who had selective hearing when it came to calling them back, Astro responds really well to a whistle and 'come here'!
A huge relief or it would have been the aussie equivalent of a 'Fenton' moment.
