The Poles look out for the first star on Christmas Eve and once spotted the present opening can begin. Wigilia is the Polish name for this star waiting vigil.

This star dominates Portobello High Street and looks more Soviet Era than Polish. It is in fact a mason's motif. Each gable has a different shaped one and I chose this one as an appropriate Christmas Eve blip subject!

I blipped this in the morning before the rains and winds set in!
