A beautifully clear evening to watch the International Space Station whizz over our heads...or Santa Claus if you prefer to go with Nasa's public relations version. I didn't have time to do more than grab my camera and snatch a couple of handheld long exposures but I kind of like the Christmas tree effect of the light trails.
I haven't been able to blip for the last couple of days (I may do a couple of back blips) as my eye, damaged in my cataract surgery, went badly wrong. Yesterday I was back at the hospital for what started as yet another detailed check and ended up with me being wheeled back into surgery to push my prolapsed iris (or what's left of it) back into my eye as it was squeezing out again past the stitches. Of course it didn't go smoothly and took much longer than planned and I had another night of severe pain. Back to hospital again today to see yesterday's surgeon (my fourth in 4 days) who was surprised to find it had held together overnight. So with dire warnings of what might happen, huge quantities of antibiotics and antiinflammatants, cautions not to do anything more than some light breathing and to rush back to hospital at the slightest difficulty..I was sent on my way with a merry Xmas until next week. This is going to go on for a couple of months....then later in the year they're going to start on my left eye...
This evening Kit's mum (https://www.blipfoto.com/entry/1994516947856786852#) came over to swap presents and while she was here we all went out to stand in the crisp cold darkness to watch ISS glide past overhead....a pretty magical moment.
