Was It Really So Long Ago

The Ninety One Steps

The first time we were here, my younger daughter was five and counted the steps according to how tired she felt by the time she reached the top; '...for my legs to be this tired, there must be at least one hundred.' she said. By the time we visited for the second time, she had grown as had the number of steps to at least one thousand (almost at the age of six)! Her eighth birthday is now well behind her and on this occasion, there was to be no estimating. A full count of ninety one exactly, although two more than the last count, I think we'll have to visit again for the definitive answer.

This afternoon was a bright one in South East London. We are staying with grandparents for a few days, leading to the big event. The need for children to be out of the house arose, so we headed to the park and the common for a swing, slide and a walk.

It wasn't until later, much later that we noticed an unusual craft heading across the sky in the background, which was nice.
