Party? What party?
For years, I spent Christmas Eve with my dad's family. Classic stuff: food, laughter, kids running around, playing with their new toys, falling asleep anywhere, being carried to the car at 5am for the drive home. But now I rarely go, my asthma and my family's smoking habit not mixing very well. The decision was easier this year, with a baby, and yet I felt a bit sad at not being there, initiating my boy to the joys and perils of a party that starts at 11pm.
Then I spent the evening alone with my baby boy. After yesterday's efforts, he managed to turn from his back to his tummy and was rather surprised by my excitement.
Tomorrow will see another change to what has been the tradition for almost as long as I can remember, but it'll be full of love anyways.
Have a merry Christmas all!
