The Birds
Bird related blip as I has a feathered visitor this morning.
I thought maybe we were having a hurricane, as the windows in the living room sounded like they were being hammered in, way too early this morning. Indeed they were being hammered, but by a wayward pigeon who had managed to get in an open window and was then not able to get out through it again. So it was launching itself full speed at the windows, making an awful racket and this blipper very scared. Blame the film by Hitchcock which affected me badly as a kid.
I managed to open all the windows wider, which was very brave of me, to even be in the same room. But still it couldn't get it's teeeeeeeeeny mind around this, as it perched atop the curtain rail instead.
So in desperation I went in search of some help. Mr Akram couldn't leave his shop, understandably, the fishmongers said, er no, birds are not our thing, try the butchers, so the butcher's boy said 'yep sure, now?' I could have kissed him, but I think his morning was strange enough by now. So he duly came up and strode in and just caught the offending bird, in his BARE HANDS! I watched amazed, from behind the door. He said 'no problem' and left bemused by my obvious fear and gratefulness. Bit of cleaning up to be done then it was out to the cake shop to get him something sweet for his morning break!
I bet there was some banter in the back room of the butchers about it as they already have a reputation for being 'friendly' with the customers, I imagine crazy old bird being mentioned etc...
