Power cut

Just as Christmas dinner preparation was reaching its climax the power went off.  Initial panics were replaced by relief that actually everything that mattered was already cooked.

The sun shining in through the window was the only light illuminating the Christmas tree.

Fortunately the power cut only lasted a few minutes and didn't spoil a lovely day
