The three family redheads
Well, when the alarm went at 5am, my immediate thought was that it was to get up for work. I was so pleased to realise it was Christmas Day and I just needed to get the turkey in! Then went back to bed. I eventually got up at 8.30am, opened my stocking and went to church. When I got back the turkey was ready. Easy!
The others all went over to Chacombe early to go for a walk leaving me to finish off the cooking. After carving the turkey, which was at least twice as big as we needed, and doing the washing up, I drove over too. What a truly gorgeous day it was. Clear blue skies and a touch of frost.
We had a super lunch, eight of us plus the bubs. Pressies were a very informal affair for a change and much the better for it. We had a fun but relaxing afternoon til the other half of the family arrived. We played games, played with Teddy, cuddled Tilly, caught up on news and generally had a super family day.
I got a bit emotional at one point thinking about B and N and his sadness. P took me into the kitchen and made me the biggest cup of tea. I was really touched. We've never really connected on any personal level so it meant even more to me. I told her how much she'd changed into a great young woman over the last few years. She reckons it was down to increased confidence at her sixth form college. She turns 18 on 31st December.
We eventually left at about 10pm and I drove N and C back to MK before heading home to find I'd somehow left the turkey carcass in a pan on a low heat all day. Whoops. Still there was no harm done, except perhaps to the carcass!
Happy Christmas blippers :)) Sending you all love and best wishes.
