Texture
C gave me the Michael Freeman "The Photographer's Eye" for Christmas which is an excellent book on photography composition.
I have just read the chapter on basic design principles where he explains about the theory that composition is rooted in the concept of contrast and how he set his students exercises to discover and illustrate the different possibilities of contrast.
So, I set myself an exercise to go out and photograph "Texture" today. It worked really well. Even though it was a dull and grey day, I found loads of things to photograph.
This plank of wood caught my eye....
