The Rugby Match

Found ourselves shivering on the touch line watching our two of our sons play rugby.

It was the annual Highlanders versus Swampies match. Malton (the Highlanders) was the old Roman Fort and Norton on the other side of the River Derwent was the civilian settlement (the Swampies). Later the river was the dividing line between two of Yorkshire's Ridings so instead of one town two developed. As you can imagine this has led to rivalry over the years.

Matthew and Thomas played on the wings and managed to survive some crunching tackles. After three years of losing the Highlanders won comfortably.

This is the best shot I could manage as I was shivering so much!
