The accidental finding

Still open all hours

....Granville has inherited the shop from his uncle. The gags are still the same, and still funny, even though it's not 1985.

I must have had a lot to drink lately. I have caught myself wondering if I'd like a revival in 80s fashions and curly perms! See you in stiletto-land.

There was nothing else to blip, because I stayed inside waiting for the snow (which fell as rain) and mainly watched TV. Tres relaxing. Remembered that a friend had given me (last March?) a Now TV box that I had never got round to installing. Got it sorted on the upstairs Tv now, so I can watch stuff on iPlayer at last, without tablet-vision and buffering.

CleanSteve gutted and cooked a sea bass, Chinese-style. We've found out that whole fish get delivered to the Yip Shing twice weekly, fresh from the market in Brimingham. Can't help thinking that we spend so much time food shopping and climbing in the same area of Gloucester that we might as well move to an apartment in the Docks.

This blip is really for my sister TMLHereandThere because she liked this TV comedy series, though come to think of it, she emigrated in 1985 ! Corner shops didn't look like that, even then. Back in 1985, I was constantly being asked if I was 18 when I went to buy booze. I was 21, and extremely annoyed....

I sppoke to TML/Tanya by Skype today and it was lovely to see her and the girls, even though it hadn't been the best Christmas for her. We had an ironic laugh remembering Christmas 1972 in Ireland, when my mother had a broken achilles tendon and a baby of less than six months; here were frequent power cuts; our father decided not to come home from Mexico; and we shared our Christmas dinner with a mouse, on the table! My brother, aged 5, took aim at the mouse with a toy rifle, and broke one of the special Christmas wine glasses. Upstairs, on the Ferguson record player, the New Seekers spun on, still trying to teach the world to sing in perfect harmony.
