Helensburgh

Boxing Day - long drive to Rahane to stay at the beautiful home of Mr S's sister Fiona and her husband Gary.  Last year they moved from the converted stable of a castle to this 200 year old cottage in the banks of the Gareloch.  It's a stunning house.  Wood burning fires, AGA, and more food and drink than you can imagine,

Their home overlooks the Faslane Submarine base on the opposite shore, and at night, the lights make it quite pretty.  It's been there so long that it's hard to imagine what the land would be like without it.

No 2 was intrigued by Faslane Peace Camp, which seems to be growing again - probably as a result of renewed interest after the recent independence vote.

Loads of presents to open, drinks to quaff, chat to catch up with.  Excellent company and I was too tired (?) to blip.

Today we had brunch in Helensburgh, Mr S's hometown.  Beautiful clear day but bitterly cold.  A bit sad though, since Grandpa S's house is now sold.  Seems odd to be driving through the town and not stopping off at 216.

Back to Rahane for a big fire, leftovers, and 'The Book Thief' in cinema 1 - as good as the book !

Mr S tried to piece together the Meccano with No 3....seems the pieces are much smaller these days !
