Clattering Pigeon

I've noticed how wood pigeons clatter when they take off but this year I've been struck by lots of clattering with no launching into flight. I didn't realise how much pigeons love ivy fruits and have been alerted to them feeding by the clatter of their wings as they struggle to reach inaccessible berries. This one was just outside the back door and was catching the late afternoon rays. I like the shadow on its plumage.
