"Darkness falls across the land"

Today I didn't get the dog out until 4pm for a walk but what I didn't realise was how early it gets dark in the winter down here. It was very dark by 4.30pm and by 5pm I had to use a torch to see where I was going! I must remember to get the dog out earlier from now on, as I think the dog was a little spooked in the woods in the dark as she didn't stray from my side for the whole time.
