Mediterranean musings

Full house

After a pleasant supper at the Mercure in Abbeville we lurched into the bar to relax in a comfy chair with our cafes gourmands.

That immediately doubled the patronage. Well, it is the Sunday after Christmas in the middle of nowhere France, so not entirely unexpected.

After some unexpected Eurotunnel delays, we have done enough for today, so we resolve to have an early night and get up bright and early to defrost the car, ready for the next leg our journey south.

Normally, in the northern hemisphere, south means warmer. Unfortunately for us, our route means that south is higher and therefore colder. We are heading for Clermont Ferrand, where the "real feel" low is shown as -14* ce soir !!!!!

I'm just hoping that's too cold too snow, as my mother used to say.
