A different view

I was crossing the Braids today after visiting my mother in law and stopped to see this view of Craigmillar Castle where, in 1566, Mary Queen of Scots stayed to convalesce after the birth of her son, the future King James VI.

What was different was seeing the backdrop of Berwick Law and the Bass Rock in the Firth of Forth, lit by the low sun.
While someone in the time of Mary Queen of Scots might have looked on a general view, they would not have had this perspective or the close up detail as the telescope had not been invented then.
