SHOULD I TRY: To turn back time?

Went to an estate sale today.
As I walked into the master bedroom,
This clock stopped me. 
It looked so much like “the clock”
From my childhood.

The one that accompanied us,
As we moved from house to house.

It always stood in a position of prominence.
Which is surprising,
Because it never worked.
Actually it couldn’t work,
Because the inside was filled with newspaper.

Though not identical,
This one’s metal face and painted flowers,
Are very close in appearance to our,
Time piece, that wasn’t.


I almost plopped down $30.00.
To bring the past home with me. 
But what was I thinking?
I never liked that clock, anyway.
So I’m not even gonna try.
To turn back time.
