Bargain dates

The other half of my purchases from The Sales.


Christmas is never complete for me without a box of dates and when they are half price my joy is totally complete. The only down side is that these days they come with a plastic twig, rather that the authentic, living twig of my childhood.

The date palm is one of our oldest cultivated plants and there are now dozens of different cultivars; these are Deglet Noor dates from Tunisia, considered to be one of the best dates in the world and commonly referred to as the "Queen of all dates"


A date palm cultivar, known as Judean date palm is renowned for its long-lived seed, one of which successfully sprouted after accidental storage for 2000 years.
