Another Frosty Sunrise
5.2C and sunny. Light breeze.
It was frosty again when Maeve the Deerhound and I were out for our early walk up towards the church. The sky had a lovely line of colour out over the sea so after Apothecary7 had left for work I took Maeve out for another very short walk and got a few shots.
Maeve and I went for our usual walk after lunch. Between the church and our turn into the field with the bridle path we met Fergus the Border Terrier and his two people and stopped for a chat. Fergus is a friendly little fellow and he and Maeve seem to get on very well. Post chat we carried on down the rock hard frozen bridle path to the shore road then went down to the beach. The tide was way out. I met the owner of Shamara II at the fishermen's huts. He was stacking some new creel frames ready for adding the netting.
In the last couple of weeks I have been on the family history trail again. Because of the festive season some of the websites that hold records have had records available for free searches and using those alongside my usual research ports of call I had a go at finding out what happened to two male first cousins three times removed after they disappeared from the Orkney censuses. Both went to Canada. One to British Columbia where he eventually became a member of the legislative assembly (the first politician I have added to my family tree), and the other to Ontario. Two little mysteries solved.
