Mutation

It has recently been discovered that the cells of urban trees, possibly in response to the very large number of digital photographers (or something) in their environment, have started a curious mutation. They are no longer growing in the smooth analogue progression familiar to observers for thousands of years, but in a more stop-start manner which scientists are labelling 'pixelated growth'. Although clearly visible under the microscope, this unexpected phenomenon is harder to detect in the wild. However, it is occasionally discernible in trees near important university buildings in bright sunlight.
