A swimmingly nice day

A friend and I went to the casino today for lunch and to through some money away. (I don't do that very often. I'd rather have something in my hand to take home than feed those slot machines!) On the way we stopped by Baskett Slough to see what was happening. Several Canada geese with babies, but they were too far away so didn't post those pics. These look like Canada geese but are duck sized. Help please, I don't know what they are called. Saw a nutria and some ducks too, that I couldn't identify because of the distance. Also wrong time of day, the sun was directly overhead. Stopped at a little nursery on the way back and admired their expensive hanging baskets.
A good day with my friend, as neither of us get to go out much by ourselves.

Edit here: I've done a little research on-line and have decided these are Cackling Geese. Thanks to musings for the heads up.
