Life's a beach

And so it was today.  I had had the idea of driving to Rotorua for a look-see before heading to the Coromandel (avoiding the New Year hotspots of Papamoa and Mt Maunganui like the plague!) but a half-hour sit-down for a mid-morning coffee at a lovely beach just along the way from where I stayed last night saw me spend about 4 hours there!  A slow drive then through Whakatane and a few other beachy spots (all humming with holiday-makers) and I find myself this evening nowhere near Rotorua and only having travelled about 50kms along the coast.  The lure of the pounding Pacific.  It seems to get me every time.

Sometimes life just has to be a beach ;)
