Collared Dove

This Collared Dove has started to visit my sister's garden in Glasgow.  I tried to capture him on the fence but he wasn't having any of that and flew up into a tree in the Southern General Hospital grounds.  There the sun was shining on him beautifully - although his expression seems to be showing some indignation at having being captured after all!


Collared Doves first nested in Norfolk in 1955 (where they originated from I don't know) and since then have spread throughout the UK. My bird book states there are 50,000+ in the UK.
