Castle at Saint-Sauveur-le-Vicomte, Normandy
A ruined castle dating back to the 11th and 12th centuries, with a massive 14th century keep (on the right). Its remains are impressive.
During the 100 years war the castle came into in English hands. It then fell to the French King Charles V, in 1375; this was the first known instance of cannons being used successfully in a siege.
