Blue sky with a red kite

After seeing news reports about last night's snow, husband was keen to get going with MiL. They left early and headed North. The snow got worse as they progressed up the M1 and by the time they were off the motorway they had to cope with abandoned vehicles and snowy roads. After a quick unpack, husband was on his way back. 

I stayed and tidied and caught up with a few jobs. This red kite was soaring over the garden as I went to dump all the vegetable peelings in the compost bin. Took advantage of the bright sunshine and walked up to the local shops with son number two.

Was pleased to see husband home safe and sound later in the afternoon - it took five hours to get back.
