My Tower of London Poppy
I have an obelisk by the bottom pond inscribed with my favourite words from Tam O Shanter "but pleasures are like poppies spread, you seize the flower,it's bloom is shed,or like the snow falls on the river, a moment white, then melts for ever" An appropriate place for my new poppy as on this land stood a steading which 90 years ago fell into ruins when the tenant's son did not return from the Great War.
A new obelisk will be erected incorporating the young soldier's name and these words "we are the dead, short time ago we lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,Loved and were loved, and now we lie in Flanders fields.
