Look at these three. How lucky I am. How lucky we are.

A lovely lunch with friends, continuing a relatively new tradition of lunch out on New Year's Eve. And then an easy afternoon catching up and chatting before home for a chilled evening (I hope...) in front of the fire.

2014 has given me an unusually potent mix of joy and worry. But mostly I just feel lucky. Lucky for the family Ad and I have created. Lucky for our wider family and friends. Lucky for the NHS and never having to make a choice between healthcare and other essentials. And I bow my head and think of those who were not as blessed by fortunes wheel as we were this year. Here's to next year. I think it could be an interesting one.
