Beach Party on the Last Day of the Year

Ok so I was the only fool on the beach!
It was very cold and blustery but I was wearing a LOT of wool so I was fine.
You can tell if you look at my EXIF info that I have a new camera!!
Although it is a NIKON it is much different than my last one and I have lots of learning to do.
I love black and white photography and my brother Love Light does a fabulous job of black and white beach images.  I know mine are lacking but I'm not sure what to make different. If anyone has suggestions for me I would appreciate them.
