Leavin' on a jet plane

Happy New Year to all of you!

Yes, tomorrow I am leaving on a jet plane.  Once again, I will be heading back to Denver.  Only this time, I will be packing up the last few things of ours, emptying the house out, and bringing it back to Reno.  There are a few other minor things to finish up on the house, but then we will be finished with it hopefully.  J did sign another offer, so the house is under contract again.  So, after much discussion, we decided it was best for me to fly back to Denver, rather than both of us driving back, to get the rest of our stuff, finish up the last stuff and leave it ready for the new owners.

We both have realized that we need to move on with our lives rather than continue to let J's family stuff rule our lives as it has over the last couple of years.   We do realize that it was very important for us to take care of family stuff when his mother was alive and even shortly after her passing.  But all of this stuff becomes totally overwhelming and has sucked us in so many times.  It is becoming a real weight on us and our lives and has prevented us from doing some of the important things that we need to do.  It is time to move on!

Every time I think about flying away from J, I think about the song, Leavin' on a jet plane (link below).  I've probably never mentioned this before, but in my other life when I was very young, very stupid and very full of myself,  I was what some might consider a "folk/rock singer".    Fortunately, I had the insight to realize that I wasn't any good.  Nevertheless, this was one of my "signature" songs.   I thought I would share it  (the song, not my singing) with you.  The guitar, by the way, isn't mine . . . it is one of ramblerstale's.

All my bags are packed
I'm ready to go
I'm standin' here outside your door
I hate to wake you up to say goodbye
But the dawn is breakin'
It's early morn
The taxi's waitin'
He's blowin' his horn
Already I'm so lonesome
I could die

So kiss me and smile for me
Tell me that you'll wait for me
Hold me like you'll never let me go
'Cause I'm leavin' on a jet plane
Don't know when I'll be back again
Oh babe, I hate to go

There's so many times I've let you down
So many times I've played around
I tell you now, they don't mean a thing
Ev'ry place I go, I'll think of you
Ev'ry song I sing, I'll sing for you
When I come back, I'll bring your wedding ring

So kiss me and smile for me
Tell me that you'll wait for me
Hold me like you'll never let me go
'Cause I'm leavin' on a jet plane
Don't know when I'll be back again
Oh babe, I hate to go

Now the time has come to leave you
One more time
Let me kiss you
Then close your eyes
I'll be on my way
Dream about the days to come
When I won't have to leave alone
About the times, I won't have to say

Oh, kiss me and smile for me
Tell me that you'll wait for me
Hold me like you'll never let me go
'Cause I'm leavin' on a jet plane
Don't know when I'll be back again
Oh babe, I hate to go

But, I'm leavin' on a jet plane
Don't know when I'll be back again
Oh babe, I hate to go
