It was still raining hard as midnight passed, after 5 minutes no fireworks had started, and we were beginning to think that the rain had defeated the promised fireworks above the lake in Grasmere, but no they still appeared, with the rain giving a nice effect of showing off the smoke as well as the brilliant light
