Or 'The Ball'. No dancing though, but the street football match/ rugby match/ general melee that takes place every Christmas Day and New Year's Day in Kirkwall. I believe that such matches took place in many towns around the UK at one time but that have mostly died out. Attempts by the authorities to stamp out Kirkwall's proved unpopular and ineffective, so it survives.
