Santa in Ireland

This is a shot from an unscheduled New Year's day stop at the airport in Dublin,  Ireland, from where I also posted my New Year's Eve blip taken earlier in Northampton.

Our flight from Boston to London had to stop short in Dublin, because its navigation system failed to the point where it would have been risky to attempt landing in London. The required replacement part was flown in from London. After it was installed, we were back in the air and landed just five hours late in London--not bad at all, we thought. The plane's crew and everyone in Dublin were terrific.

If we had arrived in London on schedule at 6 a.m. we would have been wandering as sleep-deprived zombies until our hotel had a free room; as it turned out we arrived at check-in time at 2 pm.

All's well that ends well, especially since we read on the net  that the driver of the truck that crashed disastrously yesterday on the Mass Turnpike survived with minor injuries (the backup from the accident nearly caused us to miss our plane).
