New Year's Sunrise

We went up the Makapu'u Lighthouse trail as we have for the past several years for the first sunrise of the new year.  It was advertised again this year, so the parking was overflowing down the edge of the road quite a ways.  There is something to be said for being in the company of several hundred people (families, children, dogs large and small).  And also a good reason to go somewhere else, which we might do next year.  Only one late teen was blasting music, probably showing off a new Christmas gift, but no one seemed impressed, only avoiding the little group.
This sunrise was obscured by heavy cloud cover; this is 10 minutes after official sunrise time and was really as good as it got.  Day has stayed overcast and cool.
Spent the time waiting watching rain showers against the horizon, but with a northerly wind, they seemed to stay offshore.  The island is Molokai, just visible on the horizon.
