Mavisbank House
Getting my 30 minutes exercise saw me finally visit Mavisbank House. I even got some sun between showers of driving sleet. It was such a bittersweet experience: on one hand is the joy of experiencing William Adam's architectural jewel, on the other is the sadness at seeing the state that it's in. It would be wonderful if it were to be restored, even as a shell like Penicuik House. But it's surely a massively expensive undertaking, so I fear it will just continue as a monument to indifference.
