The Old and the New

This is a photo I took today of the new Levenmouth Secondary school which has been designed to accommodate 1800 pupils from the school catchments of Buckhaven High School and Kirkland High School allowing the existing schools to close. A new catchment area will be formed to serve the communities of Levenmouth.
In the background of the new schools skeleton frame the existing Buckhaven high school can be seen. My wife and I attended in the 80s and both our kids attended between 2005 and 2014.
Buckhaven High School, built in 1957, is a six-year co-educational non-denominational comprehensive school with a current roll of around 1226. In the past Buckhaven was Levenmouth's high school for pupils who passed their eleven plus exam. The school's motto was Perseverando.
