Wanderings & Witterings

Once stood a tree

Went for a walk around Cumbernauld House Park this afternoon. Saw this tree stump and thought it would make a good photo.

A few minutes later I read that this tree stump, silhouetted against a rapidly-darkening sky was once, according to a nearby information board, a "magnificent mature Horse Chestnut tree that featured in the 1981 film Gregory's Girl."

The plaque continues "The [film's] main characters, Gregory and Susan, were filmed lying down philosophising about gravity and the speed of rotation of the earth." And I just thought it would make an interesting photo.. A blip with an information bonus.
