A new dawn for us? Or dusk?
Last year, Blipfoto was evaluated as having the potential to be a billion dollar company by some stock guru. Now, we're seeing a "partnership" with Polaroid (the fact that "Polaroid" has to be in the name AND the web address and that the entire colour scheme has been shifted to match the Polaroid brand indicates who is the dominant partner here - and no we won't be getting rid of the white background now) that will take Blipfoto to a "wider" audience. I'll leave it up to you to decide if this is a coincidence...
The fact that anyone can post and get at least one or two friendly comments from welcoming people is what makes Blipfoto work. The fast changes and increase in numbers that Joe talks about aren't likely to nurture that. Not to mention the increased likelihood of trolly comments on people's photos.
I have been giving Blipfoto credit and being quite laid back about the recent changes, but THIS one rings big fat red alarm bells for me. And the fact that this deal has been done behind our backs with almost zero warning or courtesy doesn't fill me with confidence that Joe is really interested in what we find valuable in Blipfoto. It seems to all be about his "vision". That's how it comes across to me anyway.
*Gets off his soapbox*
As for my day (got rather distracted by all this!) it's been a pretty good one! Done some errands with the parents that needed doing and generally relaxed. Well, until I saw this announcement anyway...!
