Keeping the starlings at bay!

Watching the garden birds whilst washing-up gives me great pleasure. Having replenished food stocks earlier, I noticed a pair of long-tailed tits feeding on the sunflower hearts and the fat balls.
The long-tailed tits normally seem to forage noisily in little groups of six, sometimes with the odd non-long-tailed. They arrive and after a good feed, fly off not to be seen again for a long while. It always gladdens me when they do visit.
The goldfinches regularly feed here alongside many others until the arrival of the noisy and quarrelsome starlings.
Hence the arrival of fearsome PC Hector!
He is quite happy to watch the smaller birds including the blackbirds, but when the collared doves, pigeons and starlings come, he barks loudly and scares them all off!
