Well my penultimate working day at The Foundation and it's been quite eventful. It started this morning with a rat snake being spotted caught up in some netting - I stepped back a bit because I thought someone said it was a rattlesnake! My trusty leatheman came in handy once again and soon the snake was free to return to the jungle. It was quite a long one about five feet.
Then spent a couple of hours sweating in the garden moving barrow loads of new earth to enrich the beds ready for planting tomorrow.
My elephant Rani is one of two elephants that have been trained to hold and use a paint brush so today we got him to do a couple of masterpieces and to top it the paper is elephant poo paper.
Late afternoon I had what must be a well used mahout joke played on me - I was giving Rani a really good coconut exfoliation for about half an hour when the mahout got the elephant to sit up in the river and told me to climb on the elephant's neck and wash behind the ears - the next thing is I get showered by a trunkful of water - followed by five more - I was soaked my pants are still wet now - I almost had to change into next week's pair. It certainly cooled me down and the mahouts seemed to enjoy the joke.
