Arvin and Donovan Rock
This fountain was the inspiration of President Harold Heiner of Whatcom Community College in Bellingham, WA. Every new college building gets an art piece and Dr. Heiner had this one built from a very large rock that used to block Donovan Street in Bellingham. He managed to find enough pieces of the remains of the rock, removed many years ago from its spot on Donovan, and to have them made into this floating rock fountain. Just a tiny pushes turns the large ball on an extremely thin water layer in the hole where it sits. Arvin and I were on a tour of the art pieces at the college lead by my art teacher and one of the deans of the college.
