Our campsite was surrounded by unoccupied places, giving us the feel of being in the “deep” woods.
Of course we were invaders as far as the local denizens were concerned.
A Douglas squirrel kept a close eye on us as we came and went.
Traveling up the coast a few miles to the next headland gave us the opportunity to see whale spouts from the whales migrating southward for the winter.
Kathy saw four, and I saw two, spouts about 4 miles out to sea.
Watching for the whales to spout is much the same as watching for shooting stars and certainly as much fun.
