Water Garden.

As Vice President of our local Senior Citizens Club I was responsible for organising our Spring coach trip and at 10.30am today 31 of us left amidst horrendous rain to travel to Attadale Gardens in StrathConnon. About 12.30 we arrived at Strath Connon Hotel where we were met by the owners and sat down to a lovely bowl of either Scotch Broth or Courgette and blue cheese soup with a great selrction of sandwiches followed by cups of tea or freshly brewed coffee. Suitably refreshed we continued our journey to the gardens where our driver had to do a nine point turn on a single track road to get his 18ton 45 seater bus round and in the gate.
This garden was started by Baron Schroder in the late 19th century. After the storms of 1980 it was totally transformed by the present owner, Nicky Macpherson and is now a painters garden designed to frame the magnificent views of Skye and the surrounding hills. It contains Water Gardens with Monet bridges, Trees from all over the world, Rhododendron walks and dells, an old sunken garden, giant sundial - 35 feet across, Japanese garden, traditional kitchen garden and a conservatory with a collection of sub tropical plants.
It's only a pity that the weather was so foul although the light was so soft for photography. Once processed I will put some of my other shots in my folio.
When we had finished our tour we travelled back to Brockies lodge hotel just outside Beauly for High Tea and then home. All in all, a very enjoyable day.
Looks better in large.
