The bins
I was up on the roof today to take some photos of the damage done by the giant hailstones, and I couldn't resist this birds-eye shot of the wheelie bins. A long time ago, we used to put out our domestic waste in a simple dustbin. Then we were issued a separate bin for paper and plastics. Gradually we were given more bins to reflect the greater selectivity of our waste disposal service. Now we have one for paper and plastic, another for glass, yet another for organics, and a couple of general waste bins for things that cannot easily be recycled. The principle is good, but I wonder how much plastic has gone into the manufacture of these bins for every household...?.
