House in the Wood

I've walked through Gernhill Wood for years, and yet whenever I come upon this house nestling in the trees it's always a little bit of a surprise.   For me just for a moment, it conjures up thoughts of Hansel & Gretel and wicked witches.

I knew the lady who used to live there  and often I would be summoned to "take tea" with her; (usually when I had other things to do), but because of her great age, and also because she was a nice person at heart, I used to find myself doing her bidding. 

She's long gone now, but I have very fond memories of her and the many pleasant times we spent over a cup of tea.
