Sunset and Moonrise

Had a lovely surprise today when a fellow activist emailed to ask if I'd like to go out with her and her partner to Strumpshaw, just outside Norwich, to see the thousands and thousands of rooks as they came into the rookery at sunset.  Of course I said yes, so between about 3.45 and 4.45 we witnessed the most amazing performance by Mother Nature.

In one direction the sun was setting in a blaze of glory and in the other the full moon was rising, bright yellow in a dark blue sky.  In between there were thousands and thousands of rooks swooping and making an almighty racket,

Then at some signal or other they all gathered and swooped off into the rookery, leaving only what sounded - to me - like the sound of a massive crowd in the distance applauding the show that Mother Nature had just given us.

There were only about half a dozen people there plus me, Roland, Helen and Laurie.  It really was quite magical.
