Hold in the road

One of the test pits to determine the size and depth of the void under the main road round our estate. A void was discovered some years ago and supposedly filled in. Now it has reappeared and the road has been closed for 2 weeks already. This means an additional journey of 3/4 mile every time you leave or return home as there is only one road into the estate. As heavy vehicles including buses use the road it is only sensible to keep it closed but it makes me wonder if there are many more large voids anywhere else - like under the house! There are tales of tunnels in the town and this site has Roman temples and graves so there could be anything!
