The Base of the Monument.

For the first couple of days this week I am working in a new little shop a stones throw from the Monument in London. So, at lunchtime, I had to take a look! This detail is from the base of the monument, it was built between 1671 and 1677. It is 202 feet high which is equal to the distance Westward from the bakehouse in Pudding Lane where the Great Fire of London started in 1666.
