That time of year
The streets are a forest of discarded Christmas trees. Frustratingly another failed attempt to get a new cooker delivered. This time the problem was that the tiled kitchen floor had been laid on top of the feet of the old cooker, making it impossible for the guys to remove it. Hopefully we can get it sorted quickly and they can come back to swap the old fir the new.
Later it was the first Meadowbank football of the new year. Don't know if it was a lot of new year's resolutions or what but we had the full complement of eight-a-side. Things started badly for our team and the other lot raced to a 3-0 lead. We get lucky with our first as their keeper couldn't stop a looping, spinning header from ending up in the net. Better still he fumbled another shot at my feet for my first goal of 2015 and although they scored again I scored my second a little later to keep us in contention. They pushed on to lead 5-3 but then, having rode our luck at the back, we got our act together, getting our noses in front at 6-5. They briefly levelled again but we then scored four unanswered before the end for a convincing win. Very pleasing.
