Staines Moor

The ancient Staines Moor has been common land since 1065. It is now sandwiched between the M25, the A30 and Heathrow Airport so you would have thought that nature would have shunned such a space. However it is a haven for wildlife and is designated an area of special scientific interest. Despite the encroachment of the 21st century whilst walking there this afternoon, in the most amazing light, I spotted two deer, an Egret, a Grey Wagtail, and a Kestrel. Beauty is indeed found in the most surprising places!
